It is with great sadness that I report the loss of a very dear friend, For Paragon.

For Paragon rolled in his stall and injured his pelvis. The vet came and said he has seen horses recover and that the risk was from secondary injuries. We had a long night of nursing him, feeding him fresh cut grass, carrots and tons of TLC.

On the following day For Paragon lay down and could not get up. I talked to the vet again and he said in some cases the horses learn how to get up. For Paragon tried over and over and in his efforts to get up he hit his head and passed away instantly. He never gave up. (Autopsy report - broken pelvis lacerated sacral artery)

I will treasure the fond memories of my bareback rides, the feeling of floating when he cantered, his magnificent walk, the effortlessness of his jump, the 'smile' on his face when he greeted people, his ability to make the life of vets, farriers and all who came close to him easy, his kindness and many other qualities that have enriched my life forever.

Fortunately part of him will live on in his offspring through which he will continue to enrich the lives of many.

Forever in my heart For Paragon,

Isauro

Dr. Ludwig Christmann
Hanoverian Verband says of For Paragon:

"For Paragon combines an excellent pedigree and very elegant type. His sire For Pleasure was a world class jumping horse. His motherline is very consistent and produced competition horses for both dressage and showjumping, licensed stallions and many state premium mares."

For Paragon is currently winning in both dressage and jumping competitions.  At the 2006 BC Dressage championships he scored a 9 in his free walk from Hilda Gurney who also gave him an 8 for gaits with comment "Lovely" and "Wonderful horse.."

Paragon means "Model of Perfection" and I must agree with his name.  He is a gentleman, competitor and true friend.

The German paper Pferde Weit reported after For Paragon was purchased: "A very good-looking, elegant son of For Pleasure-Pinkus, who was among the best in the free jumping, found a buyer from the USA.  Really a shame considering that there are so few sons of the team Olympic Gold Medal winner."

The imported Hannoverian stallion For Paragon is by the Olympic Gold Medalist stallion For Pleasure.  For Paragon is licensed by the Hannoverian Verband in Germany, the American Hanoverian Society, Canadian Warmblood, American Warmblood, ISR/Oldenburg  and Oldenburg Society.  In his 100 day test For Paragon received high test scores for his jumping ability.

His dam, the state Premium Mare Pascona was awarded the DLG champion status.  The DLG award is an extremely rare and prestigious honour. It is awarded by the national organization that oversees all the German Warmblood breeds; therefore, Hanoverian, Oldenburg, Trakehner, Holsteiner, Westphalian...etc mares all compete against each other for this great honour.

For Paragon's offspring have consistently good temperaments, hunter type movement and style over fences.

For Paragon's dam line consists of four generations of all State Premium mares with only one mare not being State Premium in the fourth generation.   The judges at his 100 day test stated:

"Outstanding pedigree with Olympic team champion For Pleasure as sire and out of a DLG champion mare Pascona. Very good type, clearly stamped by his dam's side with beautiful face, good neck and great topline. The stallion competes successfully in hunter and show jumping classes in the US. Very good jumping ability and basic gaits"

For Paragon's dam's sire, Pinkus is out of a Garibaldi II mare, Gina, whose dam Palizza is by Pik Koening.  Garibaldi II is by Grande.  For Paragon's dam, the State Premium mare Pascona, boasts the blood of two foundation jumper sires for Hannover, Grande and Argentan.  Pinkus's grandsire, Praefectus xx, is the dam sire of Bonfire who won a gold medal in dressage in Sydney 2000.
