Casanova Z carries the blood of numerous International jumpers. Both his
paternal (Corrado I) and maternal (Ramiro Z) grandsires
competed at International level competitions.
Both his dam's
mother (the famous Golden Gate Z) and his dam's dam's mother (Petra aka
Panama) competed successfully at the international level in show jumping.

Casanova Z's damside comes from a line
of International showjumping performance mares starting with the famous
Golden Gate Z who won over 30 European showjumping competitions.
Golden Gate Z - maternal grand dam of Casanova Z
Golden Gate's dam Petra was herself an
International show jumper who also won the German National championships.
Petra's sire Papayer xx is also the sire of Paradox, the horse accredited
with producing numerous top jumpers for Westphalia.
SPS Golden Gate, was a Grand Prix jumper who won
more than 30 European jumping competitions. At the 1977 Jubilee Show in
Munster, she was declared the best Westphalen jumping horse. She is bred
from the legendary Gotthard line. Her dam Panama (Petra) was by Papayer xx,
the father of Paradox, the biggest producer of jumping champions in
Westphalia. Panama (Petra), was an International Grand Prix jumping champion
and was Jumping Champion of all Germany.
Goldberg - sire of Golden Gate is by Gothard.
The stallion Goldberg was the first approved son of Gothard. Goldberg
is considered to be probably the best Gothard son. Goldberg covered
mares in Westphalia but unfortunately perished after only four breeding
seasons. During that time he sired a number of world class showjumpers.
Papayer xx - sire of Petra great grandam of
Casanova Z.
The chestnut stallion Papayer xx covered as a private
stallion in Westphalian breeding for ten years, from 1961 to 1972. His
achievements were quite out of the ordinary. His first year at stud already
produced the top international competition mare Panama 4 (aka Petra) / Peter
Schmitz (i.a. winner of the French Showjumping Derby in La Baule). She was the
dam of the first rate full-siblings Gaylord 6 / Hendrik Snoek resp. Golden Gate
/ Lutz Merkel (both by Goldberg). His second crop resulted in the bay Privatier,
one of the most successful dressage horses of his generation. This
strong performance motherline makes the genetic makeup of the Zangersheide
stallion
Casanova Z a
valuable addition to breeders in North America.
Ragna Z - Dam of Casanova Z is by Ramiro Z
Ramiro Z is one of the first stallions
(along with Alme Z [V'Tropez]
and Sandro Z [San Ramiro])
proven in sport and also one of the first Euro-stallions appearing in the
pedigree of horses in many registries. Ramiro Z was a successful
international showjumper under Frizs Ligges for many years, yet still
delivered top horses. These top horses include Fatinitza 6, Ramiros
Girl, Rodney and the Olympic horse Ramzes all ridden by Fritz Ligges, Ramira
and Riva (both L. Goosing), the double Federal Champion winner Rosella G (L.
Gossing resp. L. Beerbaum), Rinnetou Z (P. Raymakers) and the mare of the
century Ratina Z.
In breeding terms Ramiro Z also established himself
with over 70 approved sons, most of whom themselves have gone into the
annals of European Warmblood horse breeding.
