The stallion Absatz is a foundation sire that produced numerous stallions that are prominent in the
production of International and Grand Prix show jumpers such as
Argentan and can
be found in the pedigrees of many top jumpers. Found
in the pedigree of the Hanoverian Stallion For Paragon.

The stallion Abglanz sired the famous Absatz, who stood from 1964-1982.
Absatz is one of the stallions who had the biggest influence in changing the
appearance the of the Hanoverians within the last 20-30 years to a more modern.
elegant type. His son Argentan for example. standing since 1971, consistently
produces the good Absatz type and presence, including three national champion
mares in broodmare shows, and -among others- the impressive young stallion
Airport. The Absatz sons Akzent I and especially Akzent II and his son Acapulco
are also very good stallions in Germany. Overall, the line appears to be very
versatile in sports ability, including success in hunter competition.
Argentan is in For Paragon's dam side.
Abglanz is the maternal grandsire of
San Ramiro's damsire Raphael.
The
Hanoverian stallion Agram,
along with Ferdinand and Ramzes x, belong to THE triumvirate of German
procreators of sports horses following the Second World War. The
A-line was founded by Adeptus XX used for breeding from 1884-1904. Most
important was his grandson Alderman and through the Alderman son Alkoven this
line produced the famous stallion Agram (1942-62) an outstanding producer of
jumping horses. In Agram's color and type, one sees the influence of Arabian
blood through his Amateur I mother. The stallion Agram is on the mother
side of the stallion
San Ramiro.
The Holsteiner Stallion Aldato is by the
foundation sire Anblick xx. Aldato is found in the pedigree of many top jumpers.
Aldato is considered the best Anblick son. Aldato founded one of the top modern
stallion lines in the Holsteiner breed. According to Dr. Rossow, he was an
uphill horse of classic stallion type with a marvelous, harmonious topline and
good expression. He had wonderful basic gaits with enormous drive from the
haunches. He was an important sire who reproduced himself in a great number of
the finest broodmares who in turn became the solid basis of many future
competition horses. At the same time he produced numerous sport horses for all
disciplines. Aldato's sire, Anblick was one of the best TB stallions to stand in
Germany ever. His full brother, Abendfrieden, is the sire of the Hanoverian
legend Pik As. Anblick sired 14 approved sons and the Olympic dressage and
1960's superstars Venetia and Antoinette. The particular strength of this family
is supple healthy horses with a joy for work. Aldato is
found in both the paternal and maternal sides of
Meggie's pedigree. He is also found in the maternal side of
Candillo Junior.

Holsteiner stallion Candillo Z stands at Studfarm Zangersheide
who acquired another top-class
sire from Holstein. After Candillo Z stood in Holstein for several seasons, he
created sensation in the international showjumping sport under Thomas Konle. In
addition, Candillo Z is easily the best son of Cassini I in breeding. A whole
series of his offspring from his first three breeding years is now performing at
national level (S) in the showjumping sport, such as Nelly, Cando, Never Forget,
Cassy,
Coritano, Candilla, Castaway,
Chaparro, Casino, Linos,

Grundyman xx. Grandam Texas enjoys great reputation as dam of the licensed
stallions Flemmingh (Lacapo), Gaspari I-II (Grundyman xx) and Littorio (Lord).
This Holsteiner sport lineage 3558 also produced the international showjumping

The
Holsteiner
Foundation Stallion Capitol I, is one of the most important producers of top
Holsteiner Show Jumping Horses. The white stallion by Capitano out of Folia (by
Maximus x Ramzes AA) was bred by Harm Thormählen from Kollmar, Germany. Capitol
descends from one of the best dam lines in Holstein. Licensed in 1977 in
Neumunster, Capitol I began his breeding career in Ostholstein, later moving on
to Dithmarschen. A large crop of his offspring became highly successful in
sport and breeding. Famous names like Calato, Campesino, Carolus I and II,
Carthago Z, Cassini, Colino, and Cento defended their sire's honour in show
jumping. In Belgium the Capitol I descendant Canadian River is making headlines,
while Indoctro is his most famous get in The Netherlands.
Capitol I is the paternal great grandsire of the stallion
Candillo Junior.
In my recent trip to Germany I
had the pleasure of meeting Capitol I's full sister, U-Capitola. I was in
the middle of a field with the most incredible assembly of Holsteiner mares I
have ever seen with their owner Harm Thormahlen. I picked my favourite
mare and it turned out to be his favourite mare, a daughter of U-Capitola by
Landgraf. I picked my second favourite and it was U-Capitola.
U-Capitola then proceeded to come and visit me and requested I scratch her back.
Up to this point I did not know who this mare was. As I was scratching her
Mr. Thormahlen casually let me know she was the full sister to Capitol I.
I was in horse heaven. I will never forget the honour of scratching the
withers of the full sister to Capitol I...... what an honour.
The
Holsteiner stallion Caletto II amazingly only stood
for FOUR seasons prior to dying from an unfortunate accident. Caletto II
was acclaimed Champion of his stallion licensing in 1980. He was considered to
be the perfect Holsteiner type. He also showed wonderful jumping technique, and
later proved this in the show jumping ring with Herbert Bloeker, where the
stallion won many tests for riding horses. At a regional show in September 1984,
after being proclaimed best in the show, Caletto II was waiting to go into the
arena, when he reared up, fell over and regrettably broke his neck at nearly 7
years of age! Just how great a loss the untimely death of Caletto II was , has
been shown by the fact that he was ranked 16th in the standings for ten
consecutive years, with his two megastar offspring, Operette La Silla and
Jewel's Classic Touch contributing the bulk of the points. Calletto II's son
Caretino jumped internationally with Bo Kristoffersen and later with Ludger
Beerbaum. The Holsteiner Stallion Caretino is also the
dam sire of Candillo Junior as well as the
sire of Cheenook who is the sire of the stamm 18B1 Holsteiner mare
Meggie.
Caletto II left behind a number of stallion sons in only four years of
covering. These include Cantus, Caretino, Corleone,Cascadeur, Calvin, Cadillac,
Cellebrio, Calgary, Chamonix and Calwahn. Calletto II is also remarked to pass
athletic prowness through his daughters. Classic Touch became Olympic champion
under Ludger Beerbaum in 1992 in Barcelona. He
had 13 approved sons and 91 approved daughters.
The

Under Ludger Beerbaum he continued his outstanding career until retired to stud.
What is astonishing about Caretino is his ability to throw such unbelievable
movement and jumpability. His approved sons, Cheenook, Carpaccio and Cockney are
some of the best Dressage horses. Caretino's daughter, Ballerina, is an
international jumping sensation. Cheenook is the sire
of Meggie. Caretino is the dam sire of
Candillo Junior.
The
International show jumping Holsteiner stallion Cassini is by Capitol I, whose other
successful progeny include his 3/4 brothers Dobel's Cento and Hidden Creek
Christo as well as Visa, Cathago Z, Calato and Capriol. Cassini is out of an
ideal Holsteiner mare by Caletto II. Standing at stud in Switzerland, Cassini is
a very stately, beautiful and proud stallion known for his success through his
offspring that includes the international show jumper Cassino. He has a superb
pedigree for a sire of top jumpers. Cassini completed his stallion performance
testing with a class rating of class "1" due to his outstanding scores. He was
shown under Bo Kreistoffersen and in l994 won the prestigious Federal German
Showjumping Championship. Later in his career he was shown by Frankie Sloothaak

140 points at the jumping index in Germany, making him one of the fastest
growers in this index. Cheenook is the sire of our mare
Meggie.
The stallion Cottage Son is a sire whose
influence on the modern day showjumper is second to none. His great grandson
Capitol alone would secure his place in breeding history. Cottage Son is also
found in both the dam side and sire side of our Holsteiner
mare Meggie. Cottage
Son xx is also the dam sire of Lord who is the dams dam sire of
Candillo Junior.

to the Hanoverian stallions Agram and Ferdinand, the Anglo-Arabian grey Ramzes x
belongs to the triumvirate of German procreators of sports horses following the
Second World War. Ramzes x was born in Poland in 1937 and in 1948 became
the property of Clemens Freiherr von Nagel. He initially placed him at the
disposal of the later trainer of the federal German showjumper riders
Hans-Heinrich "Micky" Brinkmann as a showjumper, but parallel to this also
utilised him for breeding at his studfarm Vornholz. Even today, Vornholz
is still the most significant breeding centre of Germany even though it ceased
to exist in 1978. Numerous Olympic horses were born there. Without
Ramzes x, German warm blood breeding would not be what it is today. In
1951 and 1952 Ramzes x covered at the Holstein state stud of Neuendorf as a
leased stallion where he sired such excellent horses as Retina / Fritz
Theidemann, Romanus / Hans Gunther Winkler and Ramona / Alwin Schockemohle.
These three horses were the foundation of Ramzes x's fame in Holstein and were
the impetus for a further two covering seasons in Neuendorf in 1959 and 1960.
He again procreated high class showjumpers, as well as a number of approved sons
and outstanding broodmares, of whom Vase, the full-sister to the aforementioned
Romanus was probably the most significant. Her blood is pulsating in
numerous Holstein horses today. The Ramzes x bloodline later splits up
into two main streams: From Holstein, the Raimond - Ramiro branch was
widely distributed not only nation-wide, but World-wide.
The
stallion Sacramento
Song xx, serviced for 7 seasons as a private stallion in Holstein. Prevailing
thinking is that he was not used for breeding often enough and today it is
obvious he is viewed as one of the best sires of show jumpers in Holstein since
the war. In spite of a very limited number of off-spring, 40 jumpers were
successful up to the highest classes, among them exceptional horses such as
Societe (D. Hafemeister, Nelson Pessoa), San Siro (G. Muller, winnings over
30,000 DM) or, of course, Sandro himself (F. Sloothaak, winnings over 50,000 DM
to 1989). Sacramento Song lives on and daily grows more influential in
both dressage and jumper breeding. He was a classically bred English
Thoroughbred, who stood in Holstein from 1973 until his early death in 1979.
Sacramento Song is described in Dr. Dietrich Rossow's Stallion Book of the
Holsteiner Warmblood Breed as: "A classically bred, English Thoroughbred, with
beautiful, smoothly harmonious topline. Beautiful head, rather low set on neck,
impressive shoulder with good coupling to the croup. Well muscled, strong legs
and feet, sufficient gaits. Tremendous jumping ability, very tight with front
end and good with knees." Dr Rossow was of the opinion that he bred: ‘Very good
temperaments, keen, energetic dispositions... Top jumper sire!’ Alas as a
private stallion he was only sparingly used by the Holstein breeders to their
later regret. By 1990 with progeny earnings of DM696,000 he was the 8th most
successful post-war Thoroughbred sire in Germany! Sacramento Song had 31
competitors with placings, 29 of which were showjumpers. After his death three
exceptional sons were licensed on the grounds of their competition results:
Sympatico, Sacramento Son and Sandro, sire of the Hanoverian stallion
San Ramiro.
The
Holsteiner stallion Sandro
Z is one of the most succesfull breeding stallions in both dressaage &
showjumping as well as being one of the first stallions to prove himself in the
sport. Under Franke Sloothaak he accumulated winnings amounting to DM 55,000.
Sandro Z's progeny are very sought after for sport horses. At the The Hague
World Equestrian Games (1994) he had three representatives, no less, in Sandro
Song (Ante Simlesa), Safari (Michael Abo) and Paradiso (Rolf-Göran Bengtsson).
Sandro Z has more than forty licensed sons including Silvio I and II, Sandro
Song and Salido Z. Many of his offspring are performing at the highest level
showjumping as well as dressage these include Sagrat (Guy Goossen), Silas M (Yanix
Elad), Sheilaand Siundance Kid (Franke Sloothaak) and Santorin F (Fritz Fervers).

Meggie's dams dam. Interestingly and something
few people would have likely payed attention to is that Urioso is also the dams
dam sire of the superstar showjumping Holsteiner stallion Russell ridden by Nick
Skelton.
Sire
of Duerte, Sandro's dam. Thus
San Ramiro carries his
blood in his sire's side. Wahnfried is also the sire of the foundation
sire Der Lowe.
